Winter Solstice: Candlelit Yin

  • Everlove Healing & Yoga 136 Saint Paul Street Collingwood, ON, L9Y 3P2 Canada (map)

Winter Solstice is a pivotal turning point between the seasons, a moment to pause and reflect before starting to welcome more light into our lives. Winter is Yin by nature, energetically drawing our Qi deeper within us, it is a time for conservation and stillness. Just as in nature, we can't rush these natural shifts or seasons within. There is a time for action, for yang energy to get things done, but there is also a time for rest and reflection, to pause and consider where we want to be growing towards? A time for life to be bursting at the seams but also a time for the death and decay that winter brings in order to birth new life.

Join Hayley on this auspicious day for 2 hours of blissful, candlelit yin as we come together to celebrate the Winter Solstice. This deep dive into your yin practice will draw inspiration from the elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, gaining a deeper awareness of your own internal seasons and how your emotions are influenced by the world around you. Using long-held, relaxing poses combined with deep meditation, visualisation and breathing techniques you will learn how to restore your Qi to cultivate peace and equanimity in any season of your life.

Words from Hayley

So much of our life centres around Yang energy, especially around this time of year with all the socialising that comes with the holiday season. I believe it is so important to cultivate time to balance this out with practices that lean into our Yin energy. I am very drawn to eastern philosophies such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and the emphasis it places on treating the energy body. Over the years I have spent time diving deeper into these teachings and how they interact with our yin yoga practice. I can’t wait to share this with you on such a special day as the Winter Solstice.
